Tiger

How to sponsor me

Rescued on: February 26, 2012
Age: 6 Years
Breed: Yellow Lab Mix
Sex: Male
Fixed: Yes
Size: 60lbs
House Trained:

Yes. Since we've had him, he's had no accidents in the house and learned how to use the doggie door immediately. He takes himself out when he needs to.

Other Dogs: We have three other dogs and he gets along well with them for the most part. There has been a couple snarling incidents around food, but for the most part, he's pretty agreeable.
Cats: TBD
Children:

We can't say for sure, but he's a sweetheart around humans and it's my gut feeling that he would be fine around kids.

Leash: He pulls on the leash, but we are working on it. He's pretty smart and I have a feeling that with a little more work, he'll be great.

Personality:

Tiger is an incredibly sweet, 6 year old lab whose main interest is putting his head in your lap and sleeping next to you. While he loves getting out for a walk, he's not a hyper guy and would most likely be happy with a family who just wants to love him and be loved and appreciated by him. He knows how to sit and is very attentive, although we are still working on other commands and walking calmly on a leash. He's very smart and with a little bit of work will be great. He is a great car dog - sits in the seat and is happy to look out the windows. At our house, we have three dogs and for the most part he gets along with everyone. There have been a few food scuffles, but he seems to be working it out and we think he would do fine in a house with other dogs or as a single guy. Around the house, he's fairly low energy - likes to cuddle up on the couch next to you - but when we walk him, he's happy to run through the woods and is excited to stretch his legs and explore. We've only had him a few days, but the main feeling that we get is that he's just really grateful to be here, and is just sucking up all of the love our house has to offer.
Story: Tiger is a rescue from Springfield, MO.  Tiger was in an accident at some point in his life, possibly hit by a car, and had a pretty bad injury to one of his legs. That leg has healed and he runs around on it just fine - but it is a little arthritic and he will need supplements to help with the arthritis. It doesn't seem to get him down, and more than anything, he's just a sweet, happy guy who wants a loving home.
Thanks to Wade at Pet Camp for being a great foster to Tiger!!

Miley

Rescued on: March 16, 2011
Age: 3 Years
Breed: Yellow Lab Mix (hound)
Sex: Female
Fixed: Yes
Size: 52 Lbs
House Trained:

Yes

Other Dogs: Does great with her foster sister, but needs slow introductions due to her background with other dogs.
Cats: No
Children:

Yes—but still learning some basic manners (such as not to jump on them) and would recommend older kids/kids who are used to being around dogs.

Leash:

Miley is learning to walk on a leash and improving –  she worked with a trainer, but sometimes still pulls. She’ll need you to be patient and consistent with her.

Personality:

Miley is a sweet girl and true companion. She had a bit of a rough start in life, but it hasn’t broken her wonderful, friendly spirit. Since being with her foster family she has come out of her shell, and gained the confidence she was lacking. At last, she can run and play and feel like a puppy! Miley loves to be around people, and is a great companion for outdoor exercise or just snuggling on the couch. If you are working on a project, she likes being around in case you need a “helper.” And when you scratch right above her tail, she’ll “talk” to you to let you know it’s her favorite spot!
Miley likes a consistent routine including a good walk, run or hike on a daily basis.  As her foster mom says, she has a lot of “get up and go.” She has learned many commands already: sit, stay, come, wait, off, down. She has taken some training at Broadview Kennel in Aurora, and still has some pre-paid classes she can go to with her new family. Classes will help her adjust to being around other dogs and new situations in a non-threatening environment and strengthen the bond between Miley and her new person.
This girl does best around other dogs who are not overly excited or make her feel threatened, probably a result of her previous life. She and her canine foster sister have immense fun playing together. They like to play fetch, and Miley thinks it’s great fun to let her sister get the ball, and then take it from her. She loves playing with toys, especially her special snake squeaky toy. This toy never gets loved on too hard; Miley even tries to get her foster sister to play with it.

Miley should be with a family who has experience with dogs. The ideal environment for her would be a family where someone stays at home at least part of the day. Though three years old, she is still very much a puppy and will thrive with a family who can be patient as well as attentive. She is good in the car, but is better if she’s harnessed or in a crate, because she prefers the front seat. Despite being bullied and not allowed to get to food as a little pup, Miley does not guard her food and takes treats with a gentle mouth. Because she’s a little too interested in cats (or small things that move fast), a cat-less home with older children is recommended.

She’s a pretty girl with short, sleek fur of a golden yellow color, big floppy ears and big beautiful dark eyes rimmed with black. Her foster mom says that she shares some physical traits with hounds, possibly greyhound.

If you want a dog you can take along with you for lots of fun adventures, one who will sit by your side and savor the end of the day, who has endless potential to learn new tricks and commands, then Miley is ready to be your very best friend.

Story: Miley was kept in a pen in the Ozarks of Missouri where she was bullied by another dog and not allowed to eat.
Thanks to the McDermott family  for being a great fosters to Miley!!

Ari

Rescued on: April 18, 2012
Age: 5-6 Years
Breed: Black lab
Sex: Female
Fixed: Not yet. Will be scheduled.
Size: 53 pounds and needs to gain some.
House Trained: Yes.
Other Dogs: There are no issues with the resident dog and she's getting friendlier as she starts to feel better.
Cats: Ignored the cat at the vet's office.
Children: Was very calm and gentle with the two-year old neighbor little girl.
Leash: She walks well on a leash.

Personality

Ari is a sweet, sweet, adoring and very loving girl. She adores attention from her people and enjoys lots of pets and scratches. This beautiful girl has been through a lot, but she has settled in well and become a part of the family. Ari loves her food and her people, and especially laying in the sun on the deck outside. She enjoys walks and does well on her leash, although we are keeping them short for now. She needs to gain some weight and we are feeding her several times a day.

She has a beautiful lab face, nose, and deep chocolate loving eyes. She likes to give kisses, but is not excessive about it. She gets in her crate and is kenneled at night, sleeping until she is let out in the morning. Although she is crate trained, there is no need to do so when the foster parents are not home.  She does not bark, is well behaved, and is a well mannered indoor girl. Ari knows "sit" and with some encouragement, she is mastering "come and down." We are working on other basic commands.

Ari does enjoy feeding time, like so many labs do. She does not have any food aggression issues with the resident dog. She thinks having to gain weight is the best activity in the world. She has just started to show interest in the doggie toys, as she feels more settled in her new world.  Sometimes I call her Ari-A as her affectionate nature will make me sing.  She is looking for her forever family to whom she will give her complete affection and love.

Story:  Ari is a rescue from Texas.
Thanks to Kathy for being a great foster to Ari!!

Rescued on: April 18, 2012
Age: TBD
Breed: Yellow Lab
Sex: Male
Fixed: TBD
Size: TBD
House Trained: TBD
Other Dogs: TBD
Cats: TBD
Children: TBD
Leash: TBD

Personality:

Hi, my name is Clyde!  I’m a happy, loveable yellow lab that is just looking for my person!  Could that be you?
I’m not exactly sure how old I am, but I have been told I am somewhere between 8-10.  I know, I know I may be a little older than the other labs on here but I promise my best years are yet to come!  Would you like to share those years with me?
Some of my favorite things: going on walks and smelling the roses, curling up with my person on the couch, having my ears scratched and just following my person around the house so that I am close to them.
I love to go on car rides-even if I don’t get to stick my head out the window.
I have met a few other dogs on my walks and they really don’t interest me that much.
I am crate trained but I’m really not in favor of being in the crate when others are still in the house-I want to be out with them so I can play!
Story: Clyde is a rescue
Thanks to  for being a great foster to Clyde!!

Mink

How to sponsor me

Rescued on: April 20, 2012
Age: 2 years
Breed: Yellow Lab/Border Collie/Terrier Mix
Sex: Female
Fixed: has appt to be spayed
Size: 30lbs
House Trained: Yes
Other Dogs: Good
Cats: TBD
Children: Great
Leash: Does well. Doesn’t pull.

Personality:

Hi, my name is Mink and I’m a whole lotta love bundled into a pint-sized package! I may not have much lab in me—my snout is pointier, my ears stand up like a border collie’s (my right ear higher than my left) and my fur is wiry like a terrier--but my pups were labs, so I came to RMLR with them and am now looking for my forever home.

My foster dad likes to call me “Dinky” because I’m so small, but good things come in all sizes! I love people and bond very quickly to them. When my foster dad gets home, I’m so excited to see him and have to give him little nibbles on his ankles to let him know I’m down here, hidden under my much bigger foster brothers. And when I hear the jingle of
his car keys I’m so happy, because I love to go for rides!

Sometimes I watch my foster brothers playing fetch in the back yard, but I don’t see much point in that game. I’d rather lay on the deck and bask in the sun, soaking up solar energy. I do, however, love a good snuggle or following my foster dad around to see what he is up to. My foster dad lets me sleep up in the bed (he says he can hardly tell I’m there). I don’t get in his way or snuggle too close; I just like to have one paw stretched out to touch him. But I learn very easily and can learn to sleep on a bed of my own, too.

I also have impeccable house manners. I am house-trained and do not counter surf and never tear up the place when my foster dad is away. I can use a doggy door, and even though the yard’s fence is low, I don’t try to jump it.

I am really smart and a quick learner. When I got to my foster dad’s, I didn’t know any commands. Already, I am learning “sit” and “wait.” I’m learning to stay down and not jump up so much on people. I do well with other dogs and get along with my canine foster brothers. I do very well on a leash—I’m not going to be your companion for a triathlon, but am good company for walks, maybe hikes/camping (we haven’t tried yet, but I like to stay close and not run off).

You should come meet me, because I am a super dog and I just cannot wait to be with my very best friends in my very own home.

Story: Mink is an owner surrender from Bella Vista, AR, and is a recent mother to a litter of puppies
Thanks to Michael for being a great foster to Mink!!

How to sponsor me

Rescued on: May 10, 2012
Age: 1-2 years
Breed: Black Lab Mix
Sex: Male
Fixed: Yes
Size: About 50 lbs
House Trained: Seems to be -- no accidents
Other Dogs: Yes -- thinks going to the dog park is the best invention yet
Cats: Yes -- gets along with the resident cat
Children: Yes -- he absolutely loves people
Leash: Yes, but a bit all over the place, but doesn’t pull to bad.   Just needs a little work to understand what he is supposed to do!

Personality:

Hi, my name is Rex.  I have lots of energy and love to go on walks.  Walks are just the most amazing thing.  There are all these people to charm into at least getting an ear scratch. Then there are the bunnies, squirrels and other dogs.  Whew, who knew!! I get very excited when my foster Mom gets the leash.

If my foster Mom would allow it, I would just curl up in her lap on the couch or on the bed, but she has rules.  So, I just get as close as possible and get my ears scratched.  I’m hoping one of these days she won’t notice that I wiggled my whole body into her lap!

I ride well in the car and because my foster Mom takes me to fun places like the dog park, I’m always ready to hop in.

Hi this is Rex’s foster mom.  Rex is a very good boy and is just looking for someone patient and loving.  I think a good situation for Rex would be in a home with a routine, patience and lots of love.  Rex seems to do fine being the only dog, but he does love meeting new dogs at the dog park so having a buddy would be good too.

Rex makes lots of friends wherever he goes, both two legged and four legged.  If he can get someone to scratch his ears he will sit there forever.

I have left him a few times for short amounts of time (1/2 hour) to have the run of the house and he did fine.  I do crate him while at work. My guess is after he learned a routine this wouldn’t be necessary.  He is a bit vocal if he becomes anxious or excited.  We are learning quiet time and what it means to just be still.  I think a good solid routine will make this easy.  Rex doesn’t seem to know commands, although he does come when called at the dog park.

If you want a walking/running companion as well as a lovable couch potato then Rex is for you!!
Story: Rex is a rescue from Joplin, MO

Rescued on: May 10, 2012
Age: 14 months
Breed: Black Lab
Sex: Female
Fixed: Yes
Size: Approx 50 lbs
House Trained: No accidents yet
Other Dogs: No resident dog, but she has been fine during some brief encounters
Cats: No issues with the resident cat, just curious
Children: TBD
Leash: She's still learning

Personality:

Ellie is a sweet, affectionate, bright and playful “puppy” (even though she is probably full grown). She loves to play with her “squeaky” toys, will chase and return a ball and is very curious. When playing fetch, she is learning to “drop it” as well as working on a couple simple commands (sit and stay). She loves to be with her people, wherever they are and whatever they are doing. If you are busy and unable to entertain her, she will play with her toys, and then lay close to where you are.

She rides well in a car and adjusts to new surroundings quickly. She is learning to walk on a leash, however would rather play fetch or with her toys. Ellie takes a bath well and has a very beautiful soft and shiny coat.

Ellie is crate trained and sleeps through the night. When morning arrives she waits patiently to be let out.

Ellie is a typical Lab who loves to be with her people and wants to be an active part of their lives.

Breed: Lab Mix

Size: Growing -- will be a medium-sized dog
House Trained: TBD
Other Dogs: Yes
Cats: TBD
Children: TBD
Leash: TBD

Personality:

Randall, also known as Rusty and "hoppers", is a smooth dude with a super soft coat!  You'll fall in love with this little guy and his spunky personality.  He was picked up as a stray, but that doesn't stop Randall from play time with both people and other dogs.  In fact, he takes his play very seriously and will entertain you with his favorite "toy-of-the-hour".  As he is between 5 and 6 months, Randall will need general obedience training and judging from his zest for life, he'll take to it with gusto.  Randall will fit well into an active home that will give him plenty of walks, trips to the dog park, and hikes (when he is old enough for longer trips).  When full grown, he'll be a medium-sized dog that is active and agile.  Randall will be a lovable addition to any household as he loves giving kisses and thinks of himself as a lap-dog.  He does okay with the crate and unless your house is made of toys, you'll want him in one especially through the puppy stage.  Randall does well around other dogs - he learns from the older ones and initiates play appropriately.  Yet, he would also do just fine being the only dog as long as there are lots of toys and activities.  Lots of play is essential for this pup and trips to the dog park will be good for Randall.  Overall, he is a typical lab pup - energetic, inquisitive, lovable and wants a stable home to offer him years and years companionship.

Cash - 4 to 5 yo Staffy/Bull Terrier mix. Cash is a barrel of fun! He runs 5k's..he loves to hike 14ers, he loves to mountain bike. If you are active...he is your guy. He is not a dog for an inexperienced owner. He is a alpha dog, and can get possessive of his owner, he should be the only dog. However, he has played wonderfully with puppies! Very playful, focused and dedicated to his people. He takes his job seriously about protecting the house. He does love children, but my be to rambunctious for toddlers. He is already micro-chipped, neutered, and is house and crate trained. Cash must find a new home soon, as his master has leukemia and needs to have a sterile home. Are you the experienced, dedicated fitness buff Cash has been looking for?

Dolly
Contact  anelsen328@gmail.com for information

Dolly is a very sweet lab mix. She loves going on walks, hikes and being around people. Dolly needs a family that is active and around the house most of the day. Dolly has separation anxiety at times and does better when she is around her family often throughout the day. She can be left alone for some time without problems but is much happier with people. She gets along with everyone. She loves cats and
small animals, and gets along with most dogs. She has never bitten a person or animal and does not have a mean bone in her body. She has a lot of energy and really needs a family that can keep up with her. The more exercise she gets the less anxiety she has when left alone. She is potty and crate trained, however she has been able to get out of almost every crate when her anxiety occurs. Recently she has been staying in the house alone when we are gone. She knows basic commands and some fun tricks. She is very smart and learns very easily. We are very sad to give her up but we are very busy and can not give her the time and attention that she deserves.

Hi, my name is Oreo!  I am 6 year old male black lab mix.  I am looking to find a new forever home, maybe yours?  I am very well trained.  I know how to sit, lie down and stay all on command.  I also know how to sit outside the kitchen and wait to be told when I can have my dinner.  I am very loving; snuggling is one of my favorite things!  I am very active and I love to go to the park.  I really enjoy long walks and I LOVE to go for runs! I am a pretty laid back guy and I like kids and other dogs.  I had a pretty hard life up until I was 5 and that when I was adopted.  Unfortunately, my owner cannot provide me all the things I need and so she is helping me find a new home. To help make the transition smoother, if you adopt me my trainer will provide you free training sessions to help me acclimate to your house more easily.  My owner will also provide you with a free bag of food, a bed, many toys, and records of all my up to date shots and vaccinations.   If you think your home might be a good place for me, please call Kristen at 469-235-3771.

 Chelsie

please contact Carrie Moore at 303-549-2930 or email me at mtngirl29@gmail.com

Chelsie was born in October of 2010. She is a faun lab mix.  She was a rescue puppy from a litter in Texas. We got her in December 2010 from Mile High Lab Rescue.  She required surgery for an intestinal issue the first week we had her.  She is fine now.

She is a sweet, loving and likes attention.  She has been to puppy training twice.  She knows the following commands: sit, stay, come, down, leave it, no and we are working on “off” for jumping  and she has gotten better with that.   Her release word is |”free”.

She has had all her shots.  She is small for a lab – 43#’s at her rabies shot 2 weeks ago.  The vet said she is healthy and is at a good weight which will probably be her adult weight.  She has a small occasional problem with urine escaping when she is sleeping but takes a half tab (PROIN 500 tabs) with meals and has not had that problem since.  She also needs her ears cleaned weekly – it bothers her if she has even a small amount of wax.

Chelsie has a bit of fear/aggression. We have two Goldens one is a female 14 yr old  and the other is a male 4yr old.   She plays and plays with the 4 yr old.  She  does great with people and dogs who are “known”  but becomes fearful (hackles and barking) with “unknown” dogs and people.  She has gotten better and did fine with the dogs at dog training once she got to know them.  She has never bitten anyone or another dog.

She is very food oriented and needs to be fed separate from other dogs.  She eats Kirkland (Costco) adult dog food. We also give her Kirkland beef dog treats.   Her vet is Dr. David Komitor, 4652 Yosemite St Greenwood Village Vet Clinic.  303-771-6304.  She has had all her shots.  She has been spayed and micro-chipped.   We need a good home for her ASAP.
