Note: If you are interested in adopting a lab you must first submit an Adoption Application to Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue.
The process of reviewing applications may take two or three days. A phone interview and home visit must also take place
before an adoption is completed. If you have specific questions about a particular dog, please submit your application for
adoption and we will be happy to discuss which dog(s) you are interested in then. We can not guarantee that the dog that
you are interested in will still be available after your application has been reviewed and processed.

Pops is a super sweet boy that is doing GREAT in his foster home. He has no need for a kennel because he is housetrained and is past that chewing stage!! He does well with the resident dog at his foster home, their 10 and 7 yr old kids AND the two resident cats. Pops enjoys his daily trips to the dog park and the little dogs are usually his favorite!! Pops is going to be a great and easy addition to any family!! He will "talk" to you when he either wants to go outside or thinks that he needs a little more attention than you are giving him!! He is just a nice old man looking for a family to live out those golden years with!! He would do well in any home as long as you have plenty of LOVE and KISSES to give him!!
P.S. Be careful because Pops is pretty tall and will help himself to any food that you have out (in a gentle way though!). |

Pops was found as a stray in Kansas City, MO. He had to be treated for heartworms and is recovering fantastic from that. Right after his treatment, he had 3 seizures so currently is on seizure meds. We think that he may have had these from stress so are weaning him off the meds. If he does need to be on the seizure meds for the remainder of his life, they are about $10/month. His front teeth are worn down to the gums from who knows what, but this doesn't seem to affect his eating!! He needs to gain about 10 pounds. I only think that as Pops becomes healthier, his energy level is just going to rise!! |

Cassius or "Cash" is a great dog!!! He had a warm welcome for all the dogs and people at Chatfield. Cash loves searching for things in the water. He sticks his head under water to see if he can catch anything. Cash is a big dog with an even bigger heart who loves to be close to you; getting his belly rubbed, leaning on your legs, and giving slobbering kisses. Having 3 legs does not slow him down at all. He goes up and down inclines, stairs, and jumps into cars with no problem.
Along with his big heart Cash has a big appetite, and loves to do tricks for food. He is excellent at sit, shake, lie down, and come.
When it comes to walking on a leash Cash is in a hurry and pulls. He is just not used to being on one. Off leash he never wanders too far and comes when called.
Cash is potty trained, has never met cats but I don't think it will be an issue. He did great with the small dogs at the park.
He is an escape artist in a kennel, but has not had any chewing issues. |

She responds well to treats and she's getting more comfortable with the kennel and she is conquering her seperation anxiety. She sleeps through the night! Even though she is full of energy she overall is pretty calm. She loves to stay near people and loves being rubbed. She is friendly, attentive, playful and intelligent. Her eyes sparkle with mischief and she's always ready to play. She is a beautiful black puppy with some curly hair. She would do best in an active household. |

I need a house and backyard with lots of room to play and run! I would love a family that is willing to take me on runs, hiking, swimming and show me all the fun things Colorado has to offer a high energy dog like me! I know all my basic commands because I am a smart lab and I learn new skills quickly! I ride nicely in a car and have been walking nicely on a leash! Did I mention I am High energy?? I promise I settle down and sleep well.
I think I would be good in a house either by myself or with other dogs. I play a little bit with other dogs but I prefer all the attention my self! I am a people dog! My foster parents are excited to get to know me more and find a house that is the perfect fit for me!

Murray is a very shy puppy who needs time and patience when meeting new people and when experiencing new things. He is very loving and likes to sit near you and be petted any chance he gets. He loves to romp around in the yard and play with his retrieving toy. He is learning to sit and go into the kennel on command. He walks with minimal pulling on the leash and he is currently being introduced to a head training collar. He is very quiet both in and out of the kennel and he loves to go for his morning ride in the car. The perfect home for Murray would be a family who has plenty time, experience, patience and love as it seems that he has not had the most positive start to his life. Come meet this beautiful big boy.

Hi, my name is Dora. I am a yellow lab mix, my foster parents seem to think I may have a little shepherd in me because of my facial features. I am a very affectionate girl, I love to give kisses to everyone including the resident dog, Brutus, he doesn’t quite know what to think of me right now. I know sit, down and some of the time, stay, I come when I am called. I also love human attention and snuggling on the couch with my foster family and getting lots of hugs. I do not like my crate I prefer to sleep next to my foster parent’s bed at night and I would prefer to be left to wonder the house during the day but my foster mom has gated off an area for me and I seem to do better with that. I still need reassurance that someone is coming back or going to be there for me, I check in with my foster parents a lot or stick close to them. I don’t bark!! I have a very low muffled bark, but it is rarely used. I love my foster family and am good with the kids in the neighborhood who come over to check me out or play. Overall, I am a very happy girl who gets along with everyone I meet, canine or human and I would love to find my forever home.

Midnight was hit by a car and fractured her front leg. Unfortunately, her owners asked for her to be euthanized. Thanks to the staff at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, she was able to be transferred to rescue. She will have a metal plate put in her front leg and will be on restricted exercise for two months. She shouldn't run, jump, or play during this time. We recommend crating her when you're not at home and she's been content with that at the vet. RMLR is happy to have her. |

Ray is a super sweet fellow that is loosing his eyesight and then on top of that we just found out that he is heartworm positive and will begin his treatment tomorrow (1/19). He so wants a home that he can just learn the ropes of and BE THERE PERMANENTLY!! He does great with all other dogs, cats, and kids. He needs a new home with patience as he learns his surroundings and overcomes his nervousness. Who wouldn't after being shuffled all over?? He is a GREAT size for anyone and looks like a permanent puppy at about 35-40 pounds!! He is very good in his kennel and probably appreciates that down time as he learns the lay of the land. Ray might be going blind but he still LOVES his walks and has even taken on the dog park (on a leash for starters!). Ray needs a special place to call home and would love to find it soon before his eyesight is completely gone. Right now he can see the shadows and dark/light. Ray just arrived to RMLR so check back to get more updates including what a local vet says about his eyesight!! |

Ray was found in Arkansas as an abandoned and starved dog. His foster mom kept him for several months for the Humane Society and then they started to put pressure on her to have him euthanized b/c they couldn't find a home. That is when we decided that he needed to find a home in CO!!! |

Hello, I am Chester or as my foster parents call me Chesterfield which seems to suit my reserved demeanor a little better. I am only 1.5 years old, so yes I realize I have a lot of learning to do. I have a tall lean athletic build which my foster Mom says would be great for hiking or being a companion for a runner. I do need to stay on one of those leashes as I can get scared at times and I can really run if I think I need to. I REALLY enjoy being with other dogs so much so that my foster Mom says that my forever family will need to include a playful pup like myself. Watching what other dogs do is how I learn the ropes on what the people like me to do. Not long ago I was strictly left outdoors so it has taken me a bit to become comfortable indoors. I just want to make sure everyone is happy and no one is upset at me for doing something wrong. I love my crate and although I don't need it overnight, I do enjoy relaxing in it while my people are out. It gives me a safe place and also deters me from accidentally chewing on something that wasn't meant for me, remember I am only 1.5. Yes I am house trained, even though I can be shy I love attention from my people... I have recently discovered how nice it is to snuggle up on the couch right in between my foster parents. Indoors I am very quiet but outdoors is when you really see my personality shine. When my foster Mom comes out to play with us I get so excited I jump up and down run circles around her or just sneak up and walk right by her side. My foster Mom also says I may be one of the quirkiest dogs she has ever met but along with that I take the prize for being the gentlest. That's me Chesterfield, quiet, quirky and cute! But don't just fall in love with my devilishly good looks I will need lots of leadership, love and patience as I continue on my quest of being the best dog ever! Chester's forever home will need to include a canine buddy to help him learn the ropes and a securely fenced yard to run around in. |

not everyone likes jumping, though, and will stay down
with a firm command. Arnie's a super fast learner and already knows how
to sit, lay down, shake, come when called, and go into his crate when
asked. He's working
on "stay" but finds it to be the hardest since he
just wants to be near his friends! Arnie loves to run and can keep u
and although
his curiosity and playfulness can get him distracted by cars and small
animals, he'll stick close enough to keep tabs on where to find his
loving family.
He'd be best in a household with a fenced yard because
he
doesn't seem too comfortable "taking care of business" on a leash. When
outside he likes to jump in the air for joy and has a fancy for eating
snow! Inside, he's a much more mellow dog that likes to play fetch with
his tennis ball, play with his chew toys, be brushed and pet, and curl
up on his bed while his buddies are reading or watching TV. Arnie's a
sweet, cuddly, and playful boy who will add joy to your life! |

Hi, my name is Scarlet but my foster mom and dad like to call me “Teacup” because I’m a petite little girl. The verdict is still out but I might be mixed with some whippet, maybe a hound. But what I lack in size, I make up in smarts and affection. I already know sit, down and most of the time, stay and come. I love my canine foster sister and give her plenty of kisses. Spencer (5 years) M
 
Spencer is a big, burly, fun loving yellow lab that is about 5 years old.
He is a typical Colorado lab....he enjoys doing anything in the great outdoors....running, walking, hiking,
snowshoeing, backcountry skiing. You name it, he has the energy to do it! Spencer is not much of a loner,
preferring instead to have the company of another confident dog who knows the house rules. He'll do best
in a home with an adult dog that is at least 2 years old. This age ensures he will have a buddy who won't
tempt him to get in trouble but with enough energy to run around and play with him. He can be left alone at
home with free reign of the house, as long as his foster brother or sister, water bowl, and chew toys are nearby.
He loves being outside, and his favorite spot to nap is the sunny area by the big tree in the backyard.
Like most large labs, Spencer has a lot of energy to burn off, especially after extended periods on his own.
So its best that he go to a home where the people are committed to exercising both themselves, and him!
This will ensure everybody gets a good night's sleep!
He's great both on and off leash. He knows his basic commands of sit, come, and, of couse 'FETCH!'
Spencer absolutely loves to play ball, and I guarantee that you will grow tired of throwing it before he does!
Spencer has a heart as big as his body! He loves to be patted, and if you let him, he'll crawl right up beside you
and lay his head in your lap! But if you're like me, and don't let your doggies on the furniture, Spencer is just as
happy to lay at your feet, as long as you give him the occasional belly rub. Spencer enjoys going to the dog park,
but is still learning his manners when meeting new dogs. Sometimes he growls, but that's just his way of showing
off, asking the other dogs to play with him. So don't take offense - he really wants to be liked by pretty much anybody
he meets. That's why some additional training would be a good idea, and a great opportunity for him and his new
family to bond.
Please consider making Spencer a permanent part of your family. You won't regret your decision!

Jack (6 years) M
Jack is a 6 year old black lab who is a special dog with special needs. Jack was recently diagnosed with diabetes and has
developed cataracts, leaving him blind. He needs daily insulin shots. Despite these obstacles, he is incredibly sweet natured
and a spirited boy. He does really great on a leash, loves walks and playing tug. He needs a loving family who can care for his

Pete is in dire need of a home. His owner, and elderly gentleman has fallen ill to cancer and can no longer care for him.
Pete is a perfect dog for someone in need of companionship. His activity level is very low and when he goes outside he
sometimes has a burst of energy as if he is a puppy. He is very good around cats but not other dogs. He is estimated to be
10 years old, an 80 lb Lab-retriever mix, with a friendly mellow disposition, neutered male in perfect health, and he loves to
set his head on your lap to be pet. If you or anyone you know has a place in their heart, their home, and in their life for Pete,

Angel (5 years) F
We have had Angel since August of this year and she is approximately 5 years old and is very sweet. She is dog selective,
meaning she loves some dogs and is easily annoyed by others. She has some incontinence that has resolved itself with medication.
She was fostered briefly and did very well. She is housebroken and loves to go on walks an has bonded quickly with the foster couple. She is definetely a no cat type of dog and her playing with them looks more serious than just "chase". We love her dearly but nobody is looking at her and we've had zero luck trying to adopt her out. We are hoping for new exposure to help her find her forever home. She is a chocolate lab, maybe shepherd mix but looks mostly lab.

Buster (6 months) M
Hi my name is Buster, I am about 6 months old and think I am probably a Border Collie, Lab mix. My little sister and I were just dumped about a month ago. Luckily, while we were looking for food we ran onto a Border Collie and he led us to a house. Of course, being really smart pups we followed him to the door and have been here ever since. The lady who was taking care of us has been feeding us and giving us shelter and playing with us a bit every day but she is really really busy. My sister has been adopted so I haven’t seen her lately. I sure wish I had a place of my own.
I really like people and I have good manners, I don’t jump on people, and I don’t bite and I don’t even bark very much. I get along well with other dogs and love to run and play with them. I also like to chase cats and try and play but never hurt them. I think I am about 45 lbs now, not at all aggressive and would love to have some humans to play with. I don’t need to run as much as my Border Collie friend does and I have too much sense to chase cars.
The lady tells me I am a really smart little guy although I have had no training. She now knows that I am going to run into the garage when she drives in and the only way she can get me out is to go outside with a treat. I really don’t like to be confined in a small area and I absolutely hate a leash. The one time she put a leash on me I tried to get away, but with some training I'm sure I'll learn.
